Hi Boys!
I thought you might just like to know that I share your pain.....
ie that encounter with the Liberty Bell frightened the wits
out of me it did. Just don't let it happen again please. And
I was only reading about it. And there were you thinking you'd
thought of everything and I don't suppose it crossed your
minds to ask the Heart Foundation for the loan of a defibralator
(how DO you spell that? - it's not in the dictionary) just
in case.... How close to a group heart attack you must have
come. My only encounter with a big container ship was on a
motor yacht in a sunny still Ibizan harbour but it is still
vivid in my memory. Even though the monster was parked, so
to speak, it looked mighty big close up and SO threatening.
I was terrified it might decide to move or sound its horn
or whatever you call that noisy thing ships have. I expect
I shall have nightmares tonight. You brought it all back in
glorious technicolour, so thanks for that Jonathan...
I can't BELIEVE what you are doing, you know. Even on my
A4 size ancient school atlas next to me here the North Atlantic
looks HUGELY wide. You will be SO chuffed when you finally
look back on it.
Anyway, Andy and I are following your every move from the
security of terra firma and we think you are GREAT!

Hi guys,
it's Sat. July 24 here in St. Philips, NL and it is 28C with
a humidex of 35C. I have just stopped removing the old deck
at the back of my house in preparation for the new decking
to go on in the morning.
As evening descends I thought of you and decided to drop
you a line. From looking at your chart on the web you are
making fine progress, continued good rowing.
Earlier in the day I dropped down to the local chipper for
a fish and chips and from where I was standing on the shores
of the North Atlantic I could look out and my thoughts again
returned to you and your effort to row the Atlantic. I wish
I could have sent you some fish and chips. I saw the recent
pictures especially the one where you were eating breakfast.
How was that?
Well got to go and close the shed door and put away the tools
for another night until the morning. God Bless all. Talk soon.
