Message from Plummer Family

Hi Mark and crew! Hope the sunshine reaches you very soon. There have been storms in UK but not Poole. We may miss news of your return as we're away on hols abroad from 11/8 but hope you smash that record! Your progress chart looks good! The photo gallery is fab - great rainbow! Mike is currently canvassing support to be selected as Lib Dem candidate for Poole - 3 others contending, vote on 4/9! Girls have been periodically obsessed with 'Big Brother' which finally ended yesterday and it occurred to me that you would be excellent contenders for a 'senior' version as you must be experts at living in very cramped quarters. Perhaps you could even develop your own format for a reality TV survival/living endurance show using 'Pink Lady' as the venue in an isolated situation - moored in the middle of a Scottish Loch? Use the one with the 'wee beastie' to create a bit of apprehension amongst the contestants. Admiration and all good wishes, Janet, Mike, Cathy and Merry xxx

Hello John

we're up in the Lakes for a weekend - thought of you as we swam in the Irish sea. In fact think of you all the time and just wish you a safe return home to us. This last bit's all in the head - as they tell us in the ergo tests...take care little bruv

Colin, Debbie and Matt Smith.

Hi. Hope you're well. I really am starting to worry about you. I think, in my position, I could probably cope with the 40 ft waves. The Electric Light Orchestra, on the other hand, would undoubtedly drive me to mutiny...!!!

John,

OK, time to come home now! It was warm enough to eat at a table in the garden (completely revamped) the last time Stacey came to supper and you were sorely missed. I've been thinking about this inspirational quote business and have realised that it's US mere mortals that need insipring and YOU lot who are providing it. Very altruistic and exactly why you're out there, I expect. So far this summer, I've built a compost heap (a very smart one, admittedly) and you've rowed across the Atlantic. Hmm. FANTASTIC stuff. Nearly home. Corinne and I are thinking about you a lot & really hoping we can be there to cheer you in.

Lads,

This guy - down and out and stinking of booze - goes into a DIY shop. He goes to the till and asks for a bottle of meths which is kept behind the counter for safety reasons.

The assistant says "Sorry, can't sell you that on moral grounds - you're just going to drink it!"

The tramp says, "No, previously I was a painter/decorator, I've found some crappy brushes and with the meths I could clean them up, do some work and get back on my feet".

So the assistant says, "fair enough" and hands him the bottle of meths.

On taking it the tramp says, "You haven't got a cold one, have you?".

Crack on, 2-6!

Best wishes!

Stuey.

Blonde joke - with apologies to rowers!

A blonde was driving down an old country road when she spots another blonde in a wheat field rowing a boat. She pulls over to the side of the road and stops the car. Staring in disbelief, she stands at the side of the road to watch the woman for a while. When she could not stand it anymore she called out to the blonde in the field. "Why are you rowing a boat in the middle of the field"? The blonde in the field stops rowing and responds, "Because it is an ocean of wheat."

The blonde standing on the side of the road is furious. She yells at the blonde in the field. "It's blondes like you that give the rest of us a bad name." The blonde in the field just shruggs her shoulders and begins rowing again. The blonde on the side of the road is beside herself and shakes her fist at the blonde in the field yelling, "If I could swim, I would come over there and kick your backside!"

It is a quote by Nelson Mandela. ¡Good luck from Spain and happy travel.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,

gorgeous, talented and fabulous ?

Actually, who are we not to be ?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory

of God that is within us.

It is not just in some of us. It is in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So Good Luck to you as you row along,Just keep in mind ,it won't be long,With your patience, perseverance, and tenacity,Its 'you four'who INSPIRE us you see !!Be Safe ! MH & family

You were never far from our thoughts, though. Honest! Keep the sprits up lads, it won't be long until you're back in the bosom of your family. Or family of your bosoms, if your prefer. Hi John

Very glad to see that you are doing so well despite set-backs with the weather at the start!

Thinking about it, relative to what you must be used to now, the difference between GRC and any of the Tideway clubs must be lost in the noise so we might even see a little more of you when you return?!? Having said that, I guess that you will be pretty sick of rowing by the time you get back but remember not to slack-off too much towards the end because I don't want you loosing your fitness before the Boston Marathon!!

I hope that everything is well and that you are all in good spirits. I'll be keeping an eye on your progress and will hopefully see you when you return.

Good luck and all the best

The paper and all of East London is very boring without you, so come home soon.
