Special Thanks

There are a number of people who deserve special thanks. Without their support and commitment, this attempt would not have been possible...

Rowing the Atlantic is the easy part. In the long hard struggle to get to the start line, there have been some incredible acts of kindness and support. The crew's journey has been like wandering around a maze. Each time they have met a dead end, the door has been opened by one of those mentioned below. Pink Lady and the crew are now ready to row across the ocean because of the support of the following:

POOLE YATCH CLUB YARD STAFF - John and his merry men were always at hand to help come rain or shine.

ROD JENKINS and his beautiful yatch Cork Malt have supported Mark and his rowing since 1997 and has given help, knowledge and friendship.

BOB ROWLEY for the tow when we needed it after rowing for 6 hours against the wind and tide from Boscombe to Studland.

JOHN WHATELY has spent many hours as safety boat.

SUE BARNSLEY has opened the family home and welcomed ocean rowers with endless tea, amazing cake and kindness. She even had pink flowers to match the pink boat!

ANDREW BARNSLEY has been a rock in supporting the long training sessions and the engineering specification side of Pink Lady.

DR KEN FLEMMING the ships doctor. We hope we do not need you!

RICHARD CARDRICK for legal advise and friendship.

BETTY GILL the shipping expert in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

NEIL PEET from the Canadian Coast Guard for the kind support in St John’s, Newfoundland.

TIM WELFORD the spirit of adventure still lives on. Thanks for support in knowledge and equipment.

KEVIN ALYES the rowing and rigging expert who has helped design the rowing specification.

JOHN SEARSON the weather man.

MARTIN LYNDA TUCKEY, ADRIAN TREBLE, JOHN POWELL, STUART TOPP, MARK OCHARD, FIRE FIGHTERS FROM DORSET for support, encouragement and covering Mark's leave.

DAVID TOM AND HENRY PRIOR kind gift of money and friendship.

WESSEX NEWFOUNDLAND SOCIETY for your support and kind donation

PARKSTONE TRIMMING SERVICE Barry and Carla for making some strange items of equipment.

AUNTIE SLYVIA is always there.

HEATHER CRAWLEY for great enthusiasium and encouragement.

SKANDIA ATLANTIC ROWING TEAM Steve Dawson, Nigel Morris, Rob Munslow and George Rock - the A team. We nearly made it and learnt so much.

THE 400 NAMES FROM SKANDIA ATLANTIC SPIRIT we will carry your names across the ocean. Thank you for getting us to the start line.
